The public reception to Movement has been very positive and comments have so far included:
“[Reminiscent of] Cut Copy’s dancier, Euro house tracks”
“Movement is excellent and it’s an album I could see myself putting on if I had people over or were holding a house party”
“On Santiago the synths are reminding me of Memory Tapes’ 2009 album Seek Magic”
“Really beautiful and very melodic”

Weekend Revolutionaries is currently working on the 5th studio album and follow-up to Movement, the title and release date of which cannot yet be revealed. The record is likely to be out in late 2012-early 2013 but nothing is finalised yet. Further details will be provided as they are confirmed.

LIMITED TO 20 COPIES (ORDER NOW TO RECEIVE A SIGNED COPY)

Movement is the 4th studio album by Australian electronic music project Weekend Revolutionaries. Written and recorded over the course of 2 months between November 2010 and January 2011, the album is the most fully realised long-player in the Weekend Revolutionaries catalogue to date.

Consisting of lush, emotive soundscapes, propulsive club rhythms and urgent lead lines, Movement is an examination of the connections developed between human beings in city life and the physical concept of moving from one place to another, particularly the urban commute in the metropolitan sprawls of places like Tokyo and London.

Stylistically Movement could be considered a hybrid of the reverb-drenched 80s revivalist sounds of chillwave and the Balearic house music of 90s Ibiza, while retaining a sense of undeniable modernity. Certain elements hark back to the excitement and unpredictability of the Madchester rave scene and the exotic sounds of European underground disco. The sounds of New Order, M83 and Delorean are all recalled at various points in the record.

Movement evokes nostalgic memories of club culture and heady all-night raves beneath seemingly endless sunsets and transports the listener to a different time and place with every song. There is an undercurrent of the urgency and tension of inner city nightlife running throughout the record. Most importantly, Movement is certainly the most developed, forward-thinking, captivating and immersive Weekend Revolutionaries record yet.

Tracklist:

1. Santiago (5:14)
2. Apart (4:35)
3. Pulse (5:36)
4. Escapade (4:48)
5. Outer Reaches (5:49)
6. Searchlights (4:35)
7. Crimson Sunset (4:36)
8. Infinity (5:05)
9. Movement (5:42)
10. Closure (6:14)

LIMITED TO 20 COPIES (SIGNED COPIES STILL AVAILABLE)

Recorded between July and October 2010, the third installment in the Weekend Revolutionaries trilogy is entitled Surveillance. The dark sound of the record is influenced by genres of music such as dubstep, dark garage, musique concrète and jungle as well as the traditional Weekend Revolutionaries sound. The physical release will be limited to just 20 copies and will be available exclusive to the Weekend Revolutionaries Store.

The record is made up of a short, ominous introduction and 5 sprawling, 10-minute plus epic suites that tell a story of isolation and escapism without the use of lyrics, portraying events in the nameless, faceless protagonist’s journey through vivid soundscapes and ‘musique concrète’ elements. The record’s ideas follow on from those of Post-Seachange, and complete the trilogy of concept albums by evoking apocalyptic tension and paranoia, and envisaging a 1984-esque future dystopia where every waking moment is carefully monitored in great detail by governments and secretive organisations. The trilogy’s catharsis occurs during Surveillance‘s closer, ‘Surface’, where the protagonist escapes the trappings of modern life and frees themselves from the claustrophobic world around them.

Tracklist:

1. Beneath (02:06)
2. Beams (11:09)
3. Stations (12:55)
4. Air Vent (11:24)
5. Transit (10:19)
6. Surface (12:38)

Post-Seachange is the second LP released by Australian electronic music project Weekend Revolutionaries.
A 16 track, 80 minute opus, Post-Seachange is the second part in the trilogy of Weekend Revolutionaries concept albums. The idea behind the record is to explore what happens after people follow through on the idyllic notions of seaside life, and track titles such as ‘Tunnels’, ‘Overpass’ and ‘Urban Sprawl’ hint at the increasing prevalence of metropolitan infrastructure and the physical human impact on previously untouched coastal landscapes.

Tracklist:

3. Youth (04:48	)

LIMITED TO 20 COPIES (SIGNED COPIES STILL AVAILABLE)

Coastal Mentality is the debut studio album by the current incarnation of Australian one-man-band Weekend Revolutionaries. It was released in physical form on April 27, 2011. The physical release will be limited to just 20 copies and will be available exclusive to the Weekend Revolutionaries Store.

Recorded over 6 months between September 2009 and March 2010 (the album was initially released in December 2009 but more recording took place and the record was eventually reissued), Coastal Mentality contains 14 tracks of ethereal synth-pop and introspective ambient music. From the lush soundscapes of ‘Lucid Experience’ and ‘Union Square’, to the atmospheric breakdowns of ‘Rain Shadow’ and ‘Away’, and the anthemic pop of ‘Dreams Run Dry’ and ‘Haze’, ‘Coastal Mentality’ combines catchy pop melodies with downtempo ambient sounds to create a unique mix of optimism and reflection.

Coastal Mentality was the first of Weekend Revolutionaries’ official records, and the first part of a trilogy of instrumental concept albums. Each record had an accompanying story which it attempted to convey through instrumentation only. The idea behind Coastal Mentality was to explore the relationship between human emotion and atmospheric weather conditions, and allude to the perception of a relaxed lifestyle experienced by people gravitating towards coastal locations.

Tracklist:

1. Lucid Experience (03:03)
2. Colours (03:16)
3. Dark Sky (02:36)
4. Safety In Numbers (02:02)
5. Rain Shadow (02:10)
6. Dreams Run Dry (03:12)
7. Haze (03:32)
8. Sunshower (02:50)
9. Yesterday (03:20)
10. Storm Clouds (02:28)
11. Vacant Stare (03:42)
12. Union Square (03:18)
13. Away (03:08)
14. Distance (03:44)
